HeartMath Institute

Have you heard of The HeartMath Institute? The scientists at the HeartMath Institute (HMI) have conducted extensive research on the power of heart intelligence, intuition and the energetic connection between all things. Their researchers have explored the intricacies of heart-brain messaging, how emotions affect human biology and the influences of geomagnetic fields and solar activity on our health and daily activities. The research they have been doing is so cool! Take a look at this short video. I love this! You can learn more on their website at HeartMath.org

No Longer a Slave to Fear - I Am a Child of God

Someone sent me an email in which they shared this music video that spoke to them. I am so glad they did. They said they have been listening to it over and over again. I see why. This is an awesome song! It's one I want to listen to over and over again as well. It spoke to my Soul, gave me God-bumps and brought tears to my eyes. The intensity is palpable. You'll want to turn up the volume.

The Biology of Belief

In a recent email I received from Barbara Marx Hubbard, she shared that Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. is going to be speaking at The Agape International Spiritual Center (Michael and Rickie Beckwith's center) on Aug. 15th. His talk is titled The Grand Convergence: The New Science of the Body-Mind-Spirit Trinity.

Though it's located in Los Angeles, you can buy a ticket for the Live-stream and they will keep it available to watch for a week so all times zones can watch it. I'll be watching the Live-stream. I can't wait! I love Bruce Lipton. I have heard him speak on several occasions and have read his book The Biology of Belief, which I highly recommend.

Bruce Lipton is a cell biologist and lecturer, is an internationally recognized leader in the “new” biology. Dr. Lipton, a former faculty member at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine, performed groundbreaking stem cell research at Stanford University, and is the bestselling author of The Biology of Belief and co-author of Spontaneous Evolution. His most recent book is The Honeymoon Effect: The Science of Creating Heaven on Earth.

What is an Empath?

(Updated 6/19/20)

As I have written about before, I am an Empath. A lot of people don't know what that means so I'm always looking for helpful tools to use to help explain. In a world of over 7 billion creative beings, it's not hard to find an abundant selection, especially with today's technologies! It's more a matter of sifting through them.

In this very short video, author of The Empath’s Survival Guide, Judith Orloff MD discusses what an Empath is.

Also, I recently came across this article in OM Times about Highly Sensitive People. And they had another great article on HSPs and Empaths and explained the difference between them. Check it out here. It's on the mark.

Ask and You Shall Receive

Ask and you shall receive. I'm sure you've heard that before. But do you know that it's literally true? I have lots of experiences around this subject that I could share but there is one particularly amazing experience I had at the beginning of this year -- in February, that is a perfect example of this.

This story really begins in the Spring of last year -- 2013. It was then that I heard Edwene Gains, a Unity minister, author, and owner and director of Rock Ridge Retreat Center in Valley Head, Alabama, speak about prosperity one Sunday at Unity Houston. I got warm, fuzzy feelings about her as soon as I heard her talk. Her personality and energy reminded me of my maternal grandmother, who I have always had a close connection with. She is just the kind of person you love right away. She is a great prosperity teacher. She was very inspiring and I wanted more of her so I bought her book The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity on CD.

One of the exercises (in a nutshell) she had us do was to make a list of a dozen things that we most desired, no matter how large or small. Write them in order of importance to you. Be very specific. Then we were to put a date by each item on the list as to when we would like to achieve each goal. (For instance, something like to be debt free might take longer -- years perhaps -- than say a new washer and dryer or to lose some weight.) Once you have your list of the top dozen things you desire, you are to read that list at least three times every morning and every evening, for at least thirty days. Imagine yourself achieving each goal. Be open and receptive to change. Pray daily. Don't tell others about your goals. Keep it private -- between you and God. Cross off the goals as they are achieved and continue to add new ones. There will always be new desires.

Well, in order to share my experience, I have to tell you about one of the items on my list. It's okay -- because I received it. It got crossed off the list. And the moment I recognized that I was receiving this desire on my list, I burst into tears. It was better than I could have imagined and it just got more amazing as time went along. Once you make your desires known, you have to relax, have faith, let go, and let God and get out of the way.

By the way, this particular desire at the time was twelfth on my list. I had achieved most of the others already, with the exception of the ones that would possibly take years to achieve. This item I gave a date of ten months down the line. I received it in eleven months. (My life path number in numerology is 11.)

The item on my list was a friend on a similar spiritual journey to do things with. I didn't say"new" friend, so as to leave it open to be either someone I already knew or someone I haven't met yet. I didn't have anyone in my life that I had much in common with spiritually speaking -- except for my mother. My mom and I do a lot of things together and always have, such as going to Unity of Houston and other functions, which is great. I just wanted a friend to do things with -- the kind of things I enjoyed doing. Someone I shared things in common with.

Here's where the story gets really good. Boy, was I in for a big surprise! The funny thing is, I was somewhat resistant about it to start with. You just never know how the things that you desire will manifest in your life -- in any way you can imagine and then some. You have to stay open to receiving. I didn't really imagine that the friend I was looking for would come to me in the form of a new client.

I own a pet sitting business and at the time I was not taking many new clients. I have a large client base and I am more selective if and when I take any new clients. I had gone back & forth with myself on whether or not to even take on this client but she was referred to me by another long time client. So I went to meet this new client and her pets to arrange pet sitting for a few days.

The meeting was going as they normally do... until she mentioned going to a particular town on a regular basis. Normally that would be no big deal, but she mentioned the town where my husband and I have some property. A town that not many people know about, let alone go to on a fairly regular basis. It's pretty rare for me to meet someone who knows where this town is. That was just the first thing. We kept talking and discovered we both went to Unity of Houston. She hadn't been in awhile because she had moved out of town for several years. She had just moved back into the area fairly recently.

The longer we talked, the more we discovered we had in common. We couldn't stop talking. Both of our energies were really revved up and after a short while, we had to stand up. We couldn't sit down. Talk about high vibrations! She eventually asked me if I was "metaphysical". Smiling, I said I have a degree in Parapsychic Science! Then I asked her if she knew what an Indigo was. She said there have been people who have told her she is an Indigo. It was then that it hit me.....and I broke down in tears and told her she was an answer to a prayer. (I am in tears now writing about it.) I realized she was that twelfth thing on my prosperity list that I made eleven months ago. She hugged me & after we hugged like two long lost friends, we continued chatting up a storm. All three of her pets had gathered at our feet as we stood talking. They were basking in our high energy. We talked non-stop for five hours! We totally lost track of time and it went by so fast! Never have I had a client meeting like this!

So I got a new client and a new friend that day in February. And I crossed another thing off my list. Ask and you shall receive. It really does work. I just had to learn how to tune to my desire and be open to receive.

We began going to Unity together and then to lunch afterwards, talking until it was time for dinner. I sent her information and books on Indigos and she confirmed that yes, she has all the characteristics of an Indigo like I did. We had so much to talk about. As time went on, the more we discovered we had in common. We had so much in common that it became down right freaky, so I started making a list of them all. Things such as; we've both been married twice, our first husbands were Gemini's, we don't have any children, we were the oldest of three children, we both have worn glasses since elementary school, same favorite color, both have/had a cat name Chloe. We even had been called the same nickname as children by our mothers. The list is currently at forty-six things we have in common -- some minor things, some major -- including being Indigos and Empaths. It's amazing.

As soon as I was able to tune in to receiving and allowing what I was asking for, it showed up in ways better than I could have ever imagined. Not only did I get a friend like I asked for, and she and I have so much in common and are so much alike --  it's like we are practically twins; but she is also an adult Indigo, which is the first one I've found and met in person since I awakened to being one myself. Being an Indigo wasn't on my list of criteria for a friend to do things with, so that was like icing on the cake! Wow! And not only did I get a friend that was also an Indigo -- someone that I could really relate to, but she is older than I am, which is amazing in itself, because to find one older than myself (that was also awakened) was like (to me) finding a needle in a haystack! I am so blessed!

There are no coincidences! Ask, focus, allow and know that what you desire will be yours.

What's an Empath?

Although I have been an Indigo and Empath all my life, it wasn't until early 2013 that I awakened to the fact that there were names (or labels) for what I had been experiencing. Once I realized this and did some research, many pieces of my life suddenly fit together like a puzzle. Many long standing questions were answered. Everything about myself suddenly made sense. I have always felt different. I just could never put my finger on it or name it or understand it.

What I have learned so far about Empaths is that almost all (if not all) Indigos are also Empaths, but not all Empaths are Indigos. (Learn more about Indigos here.)There are some people who are Empaths or what is called Highly Sensitive People (and who are not Indigos). "An Empath is someone who has been hard-wired from birth to perceive, and literally experience the thoughts, emotions, physical sensitivities and spiritual urges of other people," explains Dr. Michael R. Smith, Ph.D., N.C.C. An Empath is always "on" to process other people's feelings and energy. It's much more than being a highly sensitive person, and it's not limited to just emotions. Empaths are energetically sensitive and are affected by all types of energy.

From what I understand, the difference between Empaths and Highly Sensitive People (HSP) is that Empaths are more tuned into the spiritual realm than a sensitive person, though both are open and perceive and feel the energy around them. This is according to Dr. Michael R. Smith, who is a wonderful coach and teacher for Empaths and HSPs that I discovered on an on-line webinar in 2013. He is an Empath himself. He said there is a study that reported that around 20% of the total population is what's considered to be sensitive people, and he estimates from his clients over the years that about 5% of those are Empaths.

Here is a list of some characteristics of Empaths according to Dr. Smith:

  • You look at someone and just know their emotional state.
  • You can feel the energy coming at you (or being drained) from another person, especially from the eyes.
  • You have a blocked feeling in your chest or sternum, as if someone is tugging on it.
  • You tend to run away from people when stressed, rather than engage.
  • You've been called "oversensitive" or "hypersensitive".
  • You always know where danger may lurk. (Curiously, you may have avoided accidents because of this hyper-vigilance).
  • You are drawn to the tranquility of animals.
  • You are drawn to mountains, nature, the ocean -- anywhere outdoors for it's grounding effect.
  • You cannot bear violence in any form.
  • You can easily produce tears, sometimes at will.
  • You may be able to feel the physical aches & pains of others in your body (this often leads to chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, or other energy illnesses).
  • You feel better after a good, intense cry.
  • You are overwhelmed by large crowds or mobs.
  • You can sometimes feel affected by the energy of the full moon.
  • You have had spiritual or paranormal experiences that include seeing or hearing ghosts, sensing presences, and/or having intense and sometimes lucid dreams.
Empaths directly perceive energy from other people's bodies and feel it in their own bodies. We feel everything, even if we are not aware of it. When I am focused on someone, whether in person or on the phone or someone on the TV or internet (it doesn't matter), I can literally feel what they are feeling. Mostly I feel the emotions but occasionally I may feel physical things as well.  For example, a client called me once about something that I forgot to do and though she was very nice and cordial on the phone, I could actually feel her agitation and annoyance. If someone is not honest or sincere, like when someone says one thing while they are feeling something very different, I know because I feel what they feel, regardless of what they say. I don't necessarily have to be focused on someone to feel their energy either.

My beloved Australian cattle dog Einstein, who passed away at home at the age of 17 a few months ago, taught me a lot in the thirteen years I had him but I learned something amazing just before he passed away. I had been giving him some pain medication in pill form but at the very end he couldn't swallow so I gave him an inject-able pain medication and it made him nauseous. I felt terrible for making him nauseous of course, but I also felt his nausea. I physically felt it in my body. I realized at that moment that I could feel what he was physically feeling. My empathic abilities extend to the animals. Also, the moment he died, I was in my office just a few feet away and I felt his energy come in the room and guide me out to where his body was and I saw that he just passed away. I had just checked on him five or ten minutes prior. I could feel Einstein as energy after he left his body. He got my attention and led me to see he had just left his body. He was free!

Empaths are connected to their intuition, good listeners, very emotional and we feel very deeply. We experience emotions for unknown reasons and we cry easily. We are sensitive to our surroundings. We typically avoid places like malls, shopping centers and anywhere there might be chaos or negative energy. Lower vibrations drain us. I am really sensitive to violence and any other negativity on the TV, radio or otherwise. Considering we are bombarded with violence and negativity, the world can be a pretty painful place for an Empath. This is why it's common for Empaths to have addictions. We have to learn to discharge lower vibratory energy "crud" that we pick up over our lifetime that collects in our aura (energy body). If not, we can become sick.

Trauma is associated with being an Empath, and according to Dr. Smith, occurs in about 50% of us and may have actually enhanced our energetic perception. We cannot change the fact that we are Empaths. "It is akin to your eye color", says Dr. Smith. It's not something that is teachable and you can't learn it. You either are or you aren't. It's a gift but can feel like a curse. We have to learn how to manage and adapt to our energetic sensitivity and that's what I have been working on and continue to work on. Dr. Smith has great tips on how to develop inner power and energetic balance so we can become empowered Empaths. We are fortunate to have someone like Dr. Smith to help us! If you or someone you know is an Empath or a HSP and would like more information, you can visit his website here.

Energy Experiments

I just finished reading the book E2 by Pam Grout, a NY Times best seller. The book has nine do-it-yourself energy experiments that prove your thoughts create your reality. (Yes, that's right -- prove.) It's a great book with profound wisdom and it's funny. Pam has a great sense of humor. She mentioned a lot of my favorite people in there too. I really enjoyed reading it and couldn't put it down. These experiments can be done with no money and very little time. One of my favorite experiments is with the "Einstein rods". You'll have to read the book to find out what that is!  :)

Rather than take it on faith, the book invites you to prove the following principles:

  • There is an invisible energy force or field of infinite possibilities.
  • You impact the field and draw from it according to your beliefs and expectations.
  • Your connection to the field provides accurate and unlimited guidance.
  • The universe is limitless, abundant, and strangely accommodating.
If you've seen the movie (or read the book) The Secret (which is really good, but they left the secret out!), this book is along the same lines but much better as Pam gives specifics, examples and practical experiments to show you what the movie The Secret conveyed in a more subtle way. I loved it!

Oneness (Part 2 of 2)

As I mentioned in part one, Oneness Blessings are different than Oneness Meditations. Just like the meditations, the Blessings are also a direct transfer of sacred intelligent Divine energy that initiates the process of a person's spiritual awakening. It affects a neurological shift in the brain, causes the heart to open, quiets the chatter of the mind, catalyzing the awakening of the kundalini and the balancing of the chakras. It is a benediction, a gift from the Divine, which is necessary to complete an awakening into Oneness. It opens the door to higher states of consciousness.  It is one way that the Divine reaches out to humankind, to assist in the current evolutionary process. It will generally start with a meditation to create a sacred space and increase the energy. This will be followed by blessings.

The Oneness Blessing (sometimes referred to as Deeksha) can be transferred by those who have received the initiation, training and transmission through a special process offered in conjunction with the Oneness University and its co-founders, Sri Bhagavan and Sri Amma or by taking the Oneness Awakening Course which is offered at Unity of Houston.

Experienced practitioners, referred to as Oneness Blessing Givers, transfer the divine intelligent energy by serving as a clear empty vessel for the energy to flow to the recipient. This is done by placing his or her hands onto the crown of the head, a practice referred to in scripture, usually for one or two minutes.

Again, just like with the meditations, each person's experience is unique. Some people may have strong experiences, others may have subtle or even delayed for a few days. A person may experience tingling or a blissful energy flowing through the body or maybe nothing at all. Whatever the experience, the recipient can trust that the process of Oneness has begun, designed by Divine Grace, to lead the individual gradually into their own Awakening. The effects are cumulative and can enhance physical healing, promote inner peace, well-being, and feelings of joy and Oneness.

Oneness Blessings are currently being given every day, all over the world; people of all nationalities, religions, and spiritual beliefs. It is a non-denominational benediction that is a gift for all. It is offered a few times a week at Unity Houston, where I go -- including right after the services. It only takes a couple of minutes. I have been receiving these blessings in addition to doing the meditations. I believe the accumulation of both are what led to my experiences as I described in part one.

I also know that ministers, as well as other leaders and millions all over the world are currently receiving the Oneness Blessing and reporting on the effects of this powerful stream of awakening energy. It can harm no one. It's impacting millions. Each individual must decide for themselves.

Our planet and all of humanity are going through a major, spiritual, evolutionary transformation. It's an amazing time right now. Barbara Marx Hubbard calls it a birthing of a new humanity. It's impacting our environment, social structures, and our individual and collective consciousness. It's obvious that the polarizing energies that divide and separate are significant. The Oneness Blessing and its energies seem to have risen to the surface at this time to counterbalance and overcome these energies in the interest of healing through Oneness. Won't you enter the process that can awaken and heal you as well as the world?

Oneness (Part 1 of 2)

"Oneness is not a one-stop destination; but a never ending unfoldment." - Sri Amma Bhagavan

Sometime in early 2012 I began going to Oneness Meditations that had just begun being offered at Unity Church, where I have been going for around thirty years. I have meditated on my own on and off over the years and there have been periods of time where I would go without meditating. I would get caught up in the busy, every day physical life for awhile until I came back around to getting in touch with my inner self and start meditating regularly again. The last couple of years I began to crave that time alone, going deep within. I was meditating more often but sometimes finding quiet time alone was challenging (running a home based business with eight pets under foot), so when the opportunity arose to experience these Oneness Meditations, which were being held in my favorite place at Unity Church -- the pyramid, I was excited.

What is this Oneness Meditation (OM) all about? It's a phenomenon that is here on our planet to help humanity awaken and flower in consciousness. It helps and empowers you along your spiritual path. It's about utilizing divine consciousness. Flowing through the eyes of the Oneness Meditator, OM creates a neurobiological shift that naturally accelerates the Awakening process. What is a neurobiological shift? The Oneness experience balances energy from (overactive) thinking centers of the brain to the (under active) frontal lobe calming centers. This ‘re wiring’ of the brain enables the senses to become free from the interference of the mind. When the senses are unclouded by the mind’s interpretations, a natural clarity of perception occurs with accompanying feelings of joy, inner peace, connection and Oneness.

The Oneness University in India began offering this new program called Oneness Meditation, which is a powerful, direct transfer of Divine energies. It began in the East around the 1980's or 90's and moved West around the year 2000 (approx.).This special, sacred blessing stems from ancient times when students studied with masters for years and years in order to receive such a transmission for higher states of awareness, for Awakening.  There are over 4,000 Oneness Trainers worldwide, and only 51 have been initiated to offer the OM. Rev. Howard Caesar at Unity Church in Houston is one of the 51.

There are three very powerful intentions that naturally occur in this Oneness Meditation transmission: One is it strengthens your bond, your relationship with your Divine, Spirit, God, however you relate to that. Second is that it brings freedom from your chattering mind. (Yay!) The third one occurs naturally when you strengthen your bond with your Divine and when the mind chatter quiets. The Authentic You begins to shine and You become present in the moment and experience the fullness of Life as it truly is.

The OM giver may be giddy as waves of blissful Divine energies stream through his or her eyes. This is perfectly natural for anyone deeply absorbed in this level of Divine consciousness. This blissful state can be quite contagious; many who experience the OM find themselves bursting into laughter or even tears of joy and gratitude. I have experienced three other OM givers besides Rev. Howard Caesar; two monks from the Oneness University in India -- Doug Bentley and Skip Miller and Anette Carlstrom, who all came to Unity Houston. One of the monks was quite giddy. There are some people who experience uncontrollable laughter or crying during the meditation. These expressions are normal and expected when strong energies begin to flow in a room. Some people may have a more subtle experience and some people may not really notice anything right away. For each individual, the experience is unique though many people may experience some of the same effects or types of experiences.

I didn't notice anything right away other than a deep peacefulness. My experience has been more subtle with a few exceptions. It's hard to describe because it is so subtle and from what I understand, it's also accumulative. I started changing and things started happening gradually -- little by little. I started feeling more calm and peaceful. The mind chatter stopped. I felt more present and clear than I've ever felt. I started having spontaneous moments of feeling pure love and joy so profound I couldn't contain it and I would burst into tears. (My eyes well up with tears just talking about it.) I started taking better care of myself. I stopped smoking -- an addiction I had for 35 years. (Whoa!) I started loving myself more, putting myself first (for a change) and taking better care of myself. I became a vegetarian. A feeling of connected-ness replaced any feelings of separateness. I started having flashes of insights about myself and remembering things; experiences I had long forgotten and even bits and pieces from a past life. Experiences I had throughout my life began making sense in a way like never before. I was able to see my life from a broader perspective now. I also began having more psychic experiences (not that everyone will -- but it is possible!). The best thing is that these OMs gave me back to myself and  I started remembering Who I Really Am, which is the greatest gift of all!

I had two separate incidences that I later learned were awakenings. The only reason I learned what they were after the fact was because at one of the OMs when Skip Miller was here, they had a Q & A time and a person in the audience asked what an awakening feels like. Rev. Caesar described what it felt like for him (it can be different for everyone), which was a sudden pop in his head sort-of-thing while he was doing some serious meditating at the Oneness University. Then Skip Miller said he actually has had two different experiences of awakening and he proceeded to describe the same experiences I had to a "T"!

The first time was one morning when I woke up, I felt really groggy and tired and I had this physical feeling on my head. I noticed it because it was an unusual feeling.  It's hard to describe other than to say it felt like as if I had a tight fitting cap on. It didn't hurt. I just noticed it and wondered what it was about. The second time was even more unforgettable. I was on the phone with my best friend who I remembered (or felt would be a better word-- as I feel everything!) I had a close relationship with in a past life, (more on this later) when I felt this surge of energy run through me and words just starting spilling out of my mouth and while I was speaking I felt something come down the top of my head, down the right side of my face (sort of like as if someone cracked an egg on your head and it was slowly oozing down the side of your face) and it continued down over my right eye, forcing it shut. My eye was fluttering to stay open but it couldn't. I couldn't open my eye for a moment or two while I continued to speak, though I wasn't worried or concerned in any way. After a few moments, my eye was able to open again, the feeling on my head went away and I felt like I was back to myself. Now if this doesn't sound weird enough....then to have someone else -- a monk -- describe the same thing as happening to him (minus the words spilling out)! Whoa. Amazing. With God, all things are possible.

The Oneness Meditation is for everyone. It is secular and given in silence (with beautiful music playing). There is no requirement. It doesn't matter what background or faith or religion (or not). There is nothing for you to do other than receive the blessing. People from all walks of life are experiencing dramatic changes and improvements in their lives.

In listening to a discussion about the Oneness phenomena last year, a Oneness Blessing Giver (see part two) said as of August 2012, 70,000 people around the world were awakened. In 2013 (at the time of this discussion) over 600,000 people were awakened. As of this writing, according to the website, over 1,708,000 people have experienced awakening. Wow. What's really cool is that each individual who awakens to their true, original state has an inter-connected effect on the whole, thus assisting humanity on the path to complete Global Transformation.  The more people attain the Oneness state, the easier it will be for the rest.

Last I heard, Rev. Howard Caesar has the largest Oneness group in the U.S.-- Oneness Houston. You can also see pictures of an OM in progress in the pyramid here.

To find Oneness Meditations in your area click here.

You can also sign up to receive weekly live webcasts of Oneness Meditations, of which sometimes Rev. Caesar will be the giver -- from the comfort of your own home! How cool is that?! It works just as well on a webcast as it does in person. (There is no time or space when it comes to Divine energy.) Click here to sign up and start receiving your blessings. It's free.

You can also receive Oneness Blessings (also known as Deeksha) -- which are different than Oneness Meditations, on the webcasts or in person at a location near you. I'll discuss the Oneness Blessings in part two.

Life is Meant to be Fun!

I am almost finished reading James Van Praagh's book Unfinished Business and boy, is it great! He has so many wonderfully incredible experiences to share. I had read two of his other books; Talking to Heaven , and Reaching to Heaven several years ago, which I also love. I have also seen him on different shows about psychics or mediums over the years. I picked up his book Unfinished Business  back in April of this year when he came to Houston and I was able to see him in person for the first time. My mom, my sister-in-law and her sister and I  saw him on a Friday evening for his presentation Awakening Your Mind. It was great. He is a good speaker and a lot of fun. He shared a lot about himself and about what he does. He shared some of the messages he has received from the other side over the years and he did some readings. We had a good time.

That's all I had intended to do originally -- just go to his presentation Friday evening. The next morning when I woke up however, I was spontaneously inspired to buy a ticket to his all day workshop that day. It was a rare occasion that I had the time off from work to actually attend an all-day-anything and since the occasion presented itself, I took it. I splurged on myself and took out $250 from my savings account and bought a ticket. After all, how often does an opportunity like this happen?

Well, I was in for a pleasant surprise! There is no doubt that I was meant to go. I was intuitively guided to attend this workshop. I had the best time and I learned so much about myself and I kind of shocked myself. (This happened just before I discovered that I was an adult Indigo.)

There were approximately 150 people (or more) that came to the workshop.  I was pleasantly surprised at the number of men at the workshop. (I hear the ratios are improving for attendance to these types of things -- instead of it being 80/20 with women as the majority, it's grown over the last couple of decades to be more like 60/40. This is refreshing.) The energy was really good because it was full of people who were open and who wanted to be there to explore their own abilities further. Not to mention we were in my favorite high energy location -- the pyramid at Unity of Houston. After doing a meditation we were paired up with others, sometimes just one person, sometimes with three other people and we did a lot of different exercises. Exercises to do with the different "clairs", like feeling or seeing auras, psychometry, etc. There were many gifted people attending, including several who did such things professionally. A woman I was paired up with was good at feeling my aura energy. First thing she felt was that I had a lot of strong energy coming out of my sixth chakra (or third eye). She could also feel where I had most recently had some pain, which was now on the mend.  As we would do each exercise, James would ask by a raise of hands who "got something" and also if there was anyone who didn't get anything. I noticed there was only one or two people (sometimes) who would raise their hand that they did not receive anything at all during the exercises. Most everyone was receiving information, or getting "hits".

As I "warmed up" throughout the day doing the different exercises, (plus doing the meditation) I was pretty relaxed by the time we did the one that gave me a pleasant surprise. We were put into groups of four. I had three other women in my group (who I had never met before). One was in my age group and the other two were younger, probably in their twenties. This exercise was where we each took a turn being the psychic and the other three were the client. Each client was to give a person's first name, their relationship to the client, and the manor in which this person died, to the psychic who was to see if they could retrieve at least three pieces of information or facts about the person (who had crossed over). The client was to just answer yes or no to confirm these pieces of information we would receive. When it was my turn to be the psychic, as each of the women said the name of the person, how they were related and how they died, these people appeared in my third eye. I was able to pick up at least three specific pieces of information or facts about each of them and each client in turn, responded in a confirming "yes" every time. Whoa. Things like what their favorite color was, what they really liked doing or what kind of person they were -- the energy about them. One of them came in really strong. It was one of the younger women's father. I saw him clearly; a big, tall man and he was wearing an army uniform -- hat and all. I could sense that he had been a loving father to his children. The other young lady who was in my group told me her grandmother's name and I saw her at her home, during the holidays, serving food to all her brothers and sisters, children and grandchildren, etc. The house was really full of people. She was happy, wearing a flower print dress with an apron, making sure everyone was taken care of. Full of love. Everyone would gather at her house during the holidays and she would cook. She liked to cook.

As I was coming up with each person's information, I was getting confirmations on not just a few of my "hits" but every one of them. Although the other women got some hits, it turned out I had the best results in my group. These people who had crossed over were showing up for me pretty easily. I had never really tried that before. Of course the energy in the room, the things we did beforehand to prep and ground ourselves, etc. were of great assistance. Not to mention James' guidance!

It's interesting to note that one of the younger women in my group kept saying after each try that she was just not getting anything. Then finally at the end, she said she smelled cigarette smoke very distinctly. (We were inside a non-smoking facility of course.) The other young woman's father (the one I saw in the army uniform), as it turned out, smoked cigarettes. She was actually experiencing clairaroma! That's the one and only hit she got the whole time but she got a hit that no one else did about him and a type of hit that no one else had either.

It goes to show you that everyone can do this if you are open to it and want to, and everyone works a little differently. Everybody is a little better at one or another of the "clairs" ,as I affectionately refer to them. There was one young man who came both to the Friday night presentation and to the workshop on Saturday who was obviously very gifted in psychometry. He was sharing with us all the hits he was getting from holding someone else's ring. He was describing her living room, complete with details. Pretty impressive! (I didn't do so well in this department.)

All these abilities or "gifts" are a natural part of us. We are beings of energy after all, and all of this has to do with energy. Energy can never die. It only changes form.

Needless to say, I had the best time at this workshop and was so glad that I followed my intuition and bought a ticket at the last minute. It's something I love doing. I had so much fun, met interesting people and I learned a lot about myself. That in itself is priceless. It was an important reminder that life is meant to be fun and having fun, and being good to ourselves is a decision, a choice. And when you are having fun and expecting good things, you raise your energy vibration and then all good things follow.

Are you having fun or are you just going through the motions of the same old thing, day after day? What is fun to you? Even if you're doing something that is not particularly fun at the moment, you can make it fun. Use your imagination. Take time in your day for some fun. It does the soul wonders.

Another interesting thing I want to mention is that this fabulously fun day for me happened on none other than my favorite number and day -- the 13th! Exactly a month before my forty-ninth birthday. And within a very short time I was able to put the $250 back in my savings account!

What is Parapsychic Science?

Over the years, when I would tell someone that my degree was in Parapsychic Science, the majority of the time I would get a puzzled look in response (and still do). A lot of people never heard the term or are unaware of what it means or entails. I guess I had not really heard the term parapsychic science either until that day I saw the ad in a magazine. I hadn't been aware until then that getting a degree in that subject was even possible. The ad listed the topics of study for this degree program, along with others that sounded interesting too, like Metaphysics, Divinity and a few others. It really got me excited and got my energy flowing! This was just my kind of thing! I was drawn to it like a June bug to a light.

Once I discovered that this was available, I really, really wanted to take the classes. I studied and read about this type of stuff any way -- on my own, so getting a degree in it was icing on the cake. At the time, even though I really wanted to sign up for this course, I had no idea where I was going to get the money to pay for it. I needed a few thousand dollars, of which I didn't have.

Now here is a great example of how when you are following your passion, your bliss, whatever gets you excited and the energy flowing -- that something that makes your heart sing --  that the universe (God) will present you with a way. When you ask, it is given. It wasn't long after discovering this option of study, while I was wondering how I could possibly come up with the money to pay for it, that I received a letter in the mail from a previous employer. The letter stated that my retirement account with that company, of which I had been gone from for over five years at the time, wanted me to remove my money and invest it else where since I no longer worked there. I had completely forgotten about that retirement account! And it was enough money to pay for the entire degree program plus a little more! I couldn't believe it! The letter arrived at the perfect time! If you focus on what it is that you want and imagine yourself already doing or having it and remain open to receiving without worrying about the how , the Universe/Source/God will deliver!

Any way, I had to tell that story. It was by way of synchronicity that I saw that ad in a magazine and then received the money to enroll. But back to the definition of Parapsychic Science.

Parapsychic science is the unity of contemporary science and philosophy with metaphysics to provide us with the ability to understand and communicate with the spiritual realm. It covers many areas of psychic science including the investigation of psychic phenomena, extra-terrestrial activity, telepathy, near-death experiences, and parapsychology. From angels and auras to numerology and palmistry, parapsychic science allows students room to explore the mysteries of life and formulate their own personal and service oriented approach to the unknown.

Parapsychology is the science which looks at connections between the human mind and its environment, connections currently unexplained by our mainstream scientific base of information. It is a branch of psychology specifically involved with the studies of paranormal events. The parapsychologist ascertains the history, principles, and theories behind psychic phenomena involving telepathy, clairvoyance, sensory awareness, psychometry (psychoscopy or "psychic touch"), dermo-optic perception, spiritual healing, auras, mediumship, and so forth. A parapsychologist can also counsel individuals who have suffered trauma due to alien and spirit encounters and other paranormal experiences.

The parapsychic sciences and parapsychology are very extensive fields of study. The following tells a little about some of the parapsychic sciences:

Aura: an energy field surrounding every person, animal, plant, and object. Auras can be observed by those sensitive to seeing them. They contain meaningful colors that can assist in the healing process and are also indicative of spiritual growth.

Channeling: allowing a spiritual entity to communicate with others through a medium. The spirit can speak directly through the medium, using the medium's voice, the spirit may speak aloud so everyone can hear (if they are sensitive or clairaudient), or the spirit can allow the medium to translate information given psychically.

Clairvoyance: the ability to "see" events psychically. Clairaudience is the ability to "hear" events intuitively, and Clairsentience is the ability to "feel" events
empathetically. Claircognizance is an extension of feeling and it means "to know with clarity," beyond the physical feeling. This is the stream that is being utilized when you proclaim "I just know." Commonly referred to as the "clairs," they are extensions of our five senses. The two lesser-known "clairs" are Clairaroma or Clairscent, which involves the sense of smell, and Clairgustus or Clairsavourance, which is associated with the sense of taste.

Dermo-optic perception: an element of psychometry where one can "read" a person intuitively through contact with their skin. A person who has developed their ability to sense things about someone through touch, can get impressions through as much as a handshake.

ET investigation: the study of extra-terrestrial activity. Parapsychologists often counsel those who have suffered negative experiences from encounters and abductions.

Mediumship: relaying impressions and communications between the spirit world and the physical world psychically or through the act of channeling. The medium can be anyone or anything conducive to the transfer of such information.

Divination tools: include tarot cards, runes, oracles, radiesthesia (dowsing), stones, crystals, pendulums, candles, music, and color. Psychic tools are anything that assists an intuitive in the effects of the psychic sciences.

Psychometry: also referred to as "psychic touch" it is the ability to obtain psychic impressions from holding an object that someone has worn or touched. Some intuitives can also obtain impressions from photographs.

Spiritual healing: channeling divine energy to the recipient by direct touch, manipulation of the aura, or through stones, crystals, music, color, and aroma.

Telepathy: sending or receiving information from one person to another by concentrated thought. Animals, particularly our pets, communicate with us (and each other) telepathically.

Well that should give you a good idea what it involves although this list is not inclusive.

I noticed that now parapsychic science is listed as Alternate Spiritual Traditions at AIHT, where I received my degree in 1999. Their description of the course is the following:

"This course of study responds to the eternal curiosity surrounding such questions as what happens after death; what makes up the non-corporeal world; and how one utilizes various psychic tools to access one’s own inner knowing. Relying on faith and science, you, as an explorer of alternate spiritual paths, will inquire into the secrets of the universe."

The Tapping Solution

Have you heard of or read the book The Tapping Solution yet? Also called EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique, it is a type of Meridian Tapping that combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology which can help improve many aspects of your life. From pain relief, to healing childhood traumas, to clearing limiting financial beliefs, to weight loss, to fears and phobias, Tapping is proving to be a powerful, well researched and easy to learn and apply technique. People have had startling results. I have used it myself and recently watched the movie on-line for free. I highly recommend it.

Check out this great half hour interview with Bruce Lipton, PhD., a Cellular Biologist and author of the book Biology of Belief (great book!). Bruce is an internationally recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. An interview you won't want to miss with lots of great information!

You can also sign up to watch the movie The Tapping Solution for free  (for a limited time) on the same page by registering with your name and email.

The "Clairs"

You've probably heard of "the sixth sense" which is what intuition is sometimes called. Intuition is the language of the spirit/soul/higher self . It is one of the major ways that your spirit communicates with you about everything, including your connection to the universe. Just about everyone can recall times when they seem to just know things like who is on the other end of the phone before you pick it up and see who it is, or you think of someone and then you see them or get a call or email from them within a very short time. Times when you just know things. This is your intuition.

We are spiritual beings having a physical experience. In other words, we are beings of energy in a physical body. We transmit and receive energy constantly whether we are aware of it or not. We are energy and energy transmitters and everything around us consists of energy as well. We are each part of a gigantic communication system and we are transmitting and receiving energy not through words, but through at least four streams of psychic expression. These are extensions of intuition, known as the four "clairs." Clair means clear or something with clarity.

Clairvoyance is an extension of our physical sight and it means "to see with clarity," beyond our physical eyes. Clairvoyance utilizes the third-eye chakra under the seven-chakra system. Clairvoyance includes spiritual visions, dreams, imagination, seeing auras, seeing angels or seeing people or animals who have passed away.

Clairaudience is an extension of our physical hearing and it means "to hear with clarity," beyond our physical ears. It includes hearing spirit voices, music, and thought telepathy, as well as comprehending spiritual laws.

Clairsentience is an extension of our physical touch and it means "to sense with clarity," beyond our five physical senses. It includes phenomena like empathy (sensing or feeling in the physical body), psychometry (receiving an impression by touching a physical object), and healing.

Claircognizance is an extension of feeling and it means "to know with clarity," beyond the physical feeling. This is the stream that is being utilized when you proclaim "I just know."

There are two additional, although less common "clairs." Clairaroma which is an extension of physical smell and Clairgustus which is an extension of physical taste.

Every person has a dominant "clair" and it may change over time with growth and as your intuitive understanding matures. When I was a child, my main source of information was clairsentience (feeling) and claircognizance (knowing) with clairvoyance (seeing) in third place and very little clairaudience. I wasn't aware at the time of what I was experiencing though or that most other people did not experience it.  I don't recall experiencing any of the other "clairs." As I got older, clairsentience and claircognizance are still dominant but my clairvoyance and clairaudience have become much stronger than before and I have also had an occasional clairaroma experience.

As you've probably heard before from other intuitives or psychics, everyone has these abilities within them. It's true. Most people however, are conditioned in childhood to believe that these things don't exist or aren't true (or worse). There are exceptions of course. Just like some people are born naturally being able to play the piano without effort when the rest of us have to take lessons and practice; in the same way some people are able to access these abilities with ease when others have to learn and practice. Indigos, who are highly intuitive, are developed in some or all of these extensions of intuition or "clair" abilities  but sometimes, as in my own case, they may be suppressed until later in life.

Just like with any other muscle, we must use and exercise our "psychic" muscles in order to keep them functioning at their best and to sharpen our skills. We must get in touch with our inner self -- the part that is connected to God/Source/All That Is. We must also take good care of our health and physical body because this is the vehicle through which we not only experience life on earth  but also because it is what we use to send and receive energy while we are here. We are after all, magnificent creative beings of energy or spirit. The healthier and clearer our instruments are, the better the transmissions of energies, the better we can create what we want.
