What Took Me So Long?

Why did it take so long for me to wake up or realize Who I Really Am  -- an Indigo and an Empath? Why now, in my forty-ninth year of life? These are some of the questions I have asked.

When we are small children, we are still very open and pure and our connection to source is still very strong. We can never become completely disconnected from Source but after we start going to school and start experiencing the world around us and other people, our awareness of our connection to Source becomes somewhat "pinched off"  to varying degrees and we become more focused in the material world. We become conditioned as to what is acceptable and what is not. What is believed and what is not. What is real and what is not. We are taught what to do and how to fit in. Our brains are like little "black boxes" recording and taking everything in around us. I hadn't been exposed to anything of a paranormal or a spiritual nature and I really don't remember being aware of such things. I just wanted to fit in and be accepted so anything I might have experienced as a child that was "unusual" I either didn't realize that others didn't experience it or I kept it to myself or I disregarded it. I don't remember very much of my early childhood, just bits and pieces.

Besides, I had a lot of growing to do, lessons to learn and experiences to go through and things of the paranormal or parapsychic nature were not readily accepted by society or anyone immediately around me for that matter. At least not that I was aware of. It wouldn't have been an easy thing to deal with consciously back then either. I always felt that I was different but didn't know why. The last thing I wanted to do was stand out in any way. No thanks! I was extremely shy and introverted.

We each have our own life path. We are each here for a purpose and each of us has gifts. We have something to share with others, something to help make the world a better place; some way to be of service. This is my path and I am where I need to be. I was awakened now, at this time of my life to being an Indigo because it's the right time for me and because this is a very special time on earth. A time like no other. We are going through a shift in evolution. A shift in energy. How do I know? Being an Indigo, I can feel it. And I'm not the only one who feels or knows the changes that are occurring either. That's all I have been hearing about for some time now from all the different spiritual leaders, authors, speakers, scientists, doctors, psychics, etc. that I follow, listen to or read.

Something else that's interesting that comes into play has to do with the cycles of life. Our lives move in rhythms or cycles. Science tells us that about every seven years we have a complete renewal of the physical body -- that our cells are replaced with new ones.  It takes seven years to master a cycle or state of consciousness. The most important cycle is the one from zero to seven years. This is where your basic personality is molded. In the cycle from 21 to 28, a person moves into maturity (if not badly hurt emotionally in the first cycle). The cycle 28 to 35 is associated with seeking for yourself, to find yourself and prepare for full development. The cycle 35 to 42 is the cycle in which "everything will be added unto you" and the law of abundance begins to flow about this time. In the cycle 49 to 56 it is said you move into the inventory of life and during this time you may ask yourself "What have I done with my life?" or "Am I in the right place?". You take stock of what you are and begin searching to find more about who you are. This is the cycle I just began -- searching to find out who I really am. I have been going within. I have been asking. Ask and you shall receive.

I would like to mention of course, that the experiences called awakenings that I had earlier this year that led to my discovery of being an adult Indigo and an Empath, were the result of going to Oneness Meditations for around eight to ten months at the time, along with receiving occasional Oneness Blessings also know as Deeksha. Deeksha is Sanskrit and means transfer of divine energy.

So there are perhaps many reasons why it has taken me so long to wake up to more of Who I Really Am. There are no coincidences. Everything works in divine order.

The "Clairs"

You've probably heard of "the sixth sense" which is what intuition is sometimes called. Intuition is the language of the spirit/soul/higher self . It is one of the major ways that your spirit communicates with you about everything, including your connection to the universe. Just about everyone can recall times when they seem to just know things like who is on the other end of the phone before you pick it up and see who it is, or you think of someone and then you see them or get a call or email from them within a very short time. Times when you just know things. This is your intuition.

We are spiritual beings having a physical experience. In other words, we are beings of energy in a physical body. We transmit and receive energy constantly whether we are aware of it or not. We are energy and energy transmitters and everything around us consists of energy as well. We are each part of a gigantic communication system and we are transmitting and receiving energy not through words, but through at least four streams of psychic expression. These are extensions of intuition, known as the four "clairs." Clair means clear or something with clarity.

Clairvoyance is an extension of our physical sight and it means "to see with clarity," beyond our physical eyes. Clairvoyance utilizes the third-eye chakra under the seven-chakra system. Clairvoyance includes spiritual visions, dreams, imagination, seeing auras, seeing angels or seeing people or animals who have passed away.

Clairaudience is an extension of our physical hearing and it means "to hear with clarity," beyond our physical ears. It includes hearing spirit voices, music, and thought telepathy, as well as comprehending spiritual laws.

Clairsentience is an extension of our physical touch and it means "to sense with clarity," beyond our five physical senses. It includes phenomena like empathy (sensing or feeling in the physical body), psychometry (receiving an impression by touching a physical object), and healing.

Claircognizance is an extension of feeling and it means "to know with clarity," beyond the physical feeling. This is the stream that is being utilized when you proclaim "I just know."

There are two additional, although less common "clairs." Clairaroma which is an extension of physical smell and Clairgustus which is an extension of physical taste.

Every person has a dominant "clair" and it may change over time with growth and as your intuitive understanding matures. When I was a child, my main source of information was clairsentience (feeling) and claircognizance (knowing) with clairvoyance (seeing) in third place and very little clairaudience. I wasn't aware at the time of what I was experiencing though or that most other people did not experience it.  I don't recall experiencing any of the other "clairs." As I got older, clairsentience and claircognizance are still dominant but my clairvoyance and clairaudience have become much stronger than before and I have also had an occasional clairaroma experience.

As you've probably heard before from other intuitives or psychics, everyone has these abilities within them. It's true. Most people however, are conditioned in childhood to believe that these things don't exist or aren't true (or worse). There are exceptions of course. Just like some people are born naturally being able to play the piano without effort when the rest of us have to take lessons and practice; in the same way some people are able to access these abilities with ease when others have to learn and practice. Indigos, who are highly intuitive, are developed in some or all of these extensions of intuition or "clair" abilities  but sometimes, as in my own case, they may be suppressed until later in life.

Just like with any other muscle, we must use and exercise our "psychic" muscles in order to keep them functioning at their best and to sharpen our skills. We must get in touch with our inner self -- the part that is connected to God/Source/All That Is. We must also take good care of our health and physical body because this is the vehicle through which we not only experience life on earth  but also because it is what we use to send and receive energy while we are here. We are after all, magnificent creative beings of energy or spirit. The healthier and clearer our instruments are, the better the transmissions of energies, the better we can create what we want.

What is an Indigo?

If you would like to know more about Indigos, I think the documentary The Indigo Evolution (full length documentary), which can be viewed for free on YouTube, does a good job at explaining them. It also has a bunch of my favorite people in it! The following is a little bit about it.

"The Indigo Evolution" is a documentary that attempts to answer the question - Are these 'Indigos' only the fanciful notions of a few individuals embracing new-age, metaphysical beliefs, or is there real evidence that they truly do exist? Most importantly, why are they here and how can we help them achieve their goal of creating a world based upon the laws of compassion and peace? Interviews with some of the most profound children on the planet today combined with discussions with authorities in the fields of medicine, psychology, education, philosophy, and religion will provide information for the viewer to draw their own conclusions to these questions.

'The Indigo Evolution' is a documentary about the shifting human, evolving beyond the five sensory perceptions into a multi-sensory being of light ! The term Indigo refers to the Indigo color Aura seen around certain individuals who exhibit certain enhanced abilities well beyond their age and learning. Commonly labeled as suffering from some kind of deficit (ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia ...) these children clearly have more of something most of us fail to recognize. Their non conformance to authority and the social conditioning sometimes earns them the label of being problem children.

Indigo Evolution, a feature-length documentary by James Twyman, was released Jan. 28, 2006 in more than 350 churches and wellness and spiritual centers around the world. The attendance far exceeded expectations, demonstrating how interest in understanding the "Indigo phenomenon" has grown. Indigo Evolution illuminates the lives of children who are referred to as "Indigos." The movie describes them as creative, eccentric and independent. Impatient with the status quo, these children possess a high degree of integrity and intuition. Many are both intelligent and gifted, often in the areas of art and technology, and some are said to bring healing gifts.
According to Indigo Evolution, Indigos often sound very wise for their age; however, they are very sensitive physically, emotionally and spiritually, and not always comfortable in their own bodies. They easily experience sensory overload to lights, smells, sounds, touching and toxins, and need help in becoming grounded. Many Indigos have attention and social problems in school and may frequently correct the teacher. While their behaviors vary, their philosophy of life is consistent; they have a high level of social consciousness and desire to make the world a better place. They are here to bring the Dawn of the Golden Age!

Hopi Elders reveal ancient prophecies:

After the premiere test screening of "The Indigo Evolution", the Hopi nation contacted James Twyman, and told him that they were willing to reveal their ancient and guarded secrets about the children of the planet in this movie. The new section containing interviews with Hopi elders about their ancient prophesies and how they relate to the Indigos was added to the documentary. Their message was astounding, and has now become the central theme for the entire film. The Hopi elders shared that it is not too late to reverse the tide of earth cleansing, but only if we come together, and the children have a critical role to play.

Namaste!

Namaste! After experiencing some profound spiritual experiences known as "awakenings" earlier this year, I have been over-flowing with energy and inspiration to create, share and to help remind others of who they really are -- more so now then ever before, and there is no time like the present! As a result of these awakenings, which actually cause physiological changes in the brain, I have experienced and continue to experience shifts in levels of consciousness among other things. Though the experience is difficult to describe in words,  I understand why it is called an awakening. It is as though you have been somewhat asleep -- or not fully conscious your whole life without even knowing it, and in little increments (or maybe for some it is big increments) you begin waking up and the veil  that separates this three dimensional reality from beyond --  is lifted a little at a time. You become awakened. Your perception changes. Your consciousness changes. This is not something you can learn or study to attain, I am told. It is given by the grace of God or Source or All That Is or whatever name you want to give it.

Of course each person's experience varies as it is a very personal experience. One of the common effects among people who have this experience of awakening is the quieting of all the mental chatter that goes on in your head and the letting go of judgmental thinking. You begin to shift from a consciousness of separateness to oneness. Another common experience is having moments of feeling such profound and powerful love and joy that is beyond anything you've ever felt before. It is indescribable or ineffable. This is happening to people all over the world.

For me, it has been the most fun and exciting time of my life. I knew it was going to be a great year and it has been better than I could ever have imagined! I am so blessed! As a result of experiencing a couple of these awakenings earlier this year, I have remembered Who I Really Am. This, is the greatest gift of all. (The energy pouring through me as I write this right now is tremendous.)

And so, Who I Really Am has to do with the reason I came here, on earth, in this physical body -- now, at this incredible time in human evolution. One of my purposes is to help remind people of Who They Really Are. Another one is to help teach people how to better care for their pets. Not a small feat, huh? Well, I am not alone by any means and besides, do you think I would come here with such a purpose and not be given tools with which to help me accomplish this? Come on, this is Source we are talking about!   :)

In the process I am going through -- and I say process because there is no ending per se--we never stop growing and expanding and evolving -- I have been awakened to the fact that I had been denying Who I Really Am my whole life, up until now (for reasons I will discuss later), which has been 49 years. (That's a long time! H-e-l-l-o Beth?! Am I a late bloomer or what?) I didn't even consciously realize that I was denying it really  -- and that is that  I am what people have labeled (we love labels, don't we?) "Super Sensitive" or Indigos (or Crystals and Cusps). I hadn't even heard of an Indigo (let alone these other terms) until the last decade or so. It really perked my interest, naturally, when I did and I saw a book about them I wanted to get but never did. It's amazing how if you don't seem to be getting a message that you're supposed to be getting, the Universe will keep providing means for which to get it. How I finally got the message I needed to get is amazing too, but I'll save that for another time.

What is an Indigo? The term was coined by a parapsychologist and clairvoyant in the sixties and seventies, who began seeing indigo colored auras around some children. Indigos, Crystals and Cusps are all categorized by the color of their aura. The color indigo corresponds with the sixth chakra in our energy body, also known as the third eye. Indigo Souls are highly intuitive and  have a very active third eye. In other words, they have what is labeled as (those labels again!) psychic abilities -- clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance, which are the most commonly known, and clairaroma and clairgustus. (I prefer the term intuitive over psychic, myself.) Usually Indigo Souls are also what is known as empathetic or  "Empaths". (This was another h-e-l-l-o moment for me.) Empaths are people who actually can feel other people's emotions and energies. They are extra sensitive to energy and have to be careful not to take on other people's emotions, energies or even physical illnesses. Most, if not all Indigos are Empaths but not all Empaths are Indigos.

Maybe you've heard of Indigos (or Super Sensitives, Crystals or Cusps). Maybe you've read some of the books about them or have seen the documentary about them that came out in recent years. Maybe your child is one. Maybe you are one. Or maybe you know someone who is or you're just curious about them. Not all Indigos are necessarily aware that they are Indigos either. Look at me! I just became aware of the fact that I am one in mid life. But I also know there are no coincidences and so, this was how it is supposed to be. Now is the right time for me.

So long story short, due to these awakenings, I have remembered Who I Really Am and why I am here -- or at least one of the main reasons, and that is to use my gifts (each one of us has them!) to bring more light and love to the world in this important time in our human evolution. So I thought I'd start with this blog so I can share what I have learned along my path -- and continue to learn and discover, with the intention that those who will benefit from it, will be led to it. That I can accomplish what I came here to do and that is to help remind people of Who They Really Are -- magnificent, powerful beings; extensions of source energy.

I would like to mention just for the record that I was raised religion-less (of which I am grateful). In other words, with no specific religion. When someone would ask what religion I was growing up, I had no idea what to say and if I did give an answer just to give one, it had no meaning to me.  I went to a couple of Sunday school classes with my grandparents under the age of five, of which I have little to no recall. I do not consider myself religious but have respect for all religions. When I got to be an adult I did begin regularly attending a non-denominational place of meditation and prayer that my mother started attending back in the mid-eighties. A progressive place that is about inspiring you to be all that you were created to be. A place about oneness and unity. It's called Unity of Houston. This is where I have received a lot of the food for my soul, including the Oneness Blessings and Oneness Meditations, which led to my awakenings. But that's me. Everyone has their own place or whatever (or not) where they receive their "soul food" and that's perfect. And not that you even have to go any where to receive it. We are all  unique and I love that. I'm just letting you know a little of my background in this regard. To me, religions are just another category with labels of which none fit for me. I am a spiritual being having a human experience. Period.

I would also like to say that these "awakenings" and the remembering of Who I Really Am and all that entails, did not happen in an instant or over night. It has been accumulative. And it continues. We never stop expanding, if we will just allow.

I look forward to sharing the love and light that is flowing through me as I continue on my journey.
